Like traces
On sand
Identity is inscribed
In signs and sounds.Ephemeral, provisional.
To unknown destinations and destinies
The waves wash them away;
They emerge
Again,
Babbling and bubbling.Saturated with desire
They try to be otherwise, elsewhere,
But they soon drown in the uniform.Yet, provisional and ephemeral
Bubbling and babbling,
They strive to emerge
Again
In fragments of sand:
Half effaced signs and
Muffled sounds.
