Masjid Omar Kampong Melaka, 1999

The salat (obligatory prayer) is composed of recitations from the Qur'an, glorifications to God. accompanied by particular body postures. Sujud, or prostration, is one of the postures. It is from this word that the prayer mat or cloth - sejadah - is named. The sejadah is used to create a clean prayer space.

Exhibition is on at the Asian Civilisations Museum till 31 December 2002.
