Friday Prayers at Masjid Darul Ghutran, 2001

Every Friday at midday, in mosques all over Singapore, Muslims gather in the spacious prayer halls. The imam who leads the prayers can also be the khatib or the person who reads the Friday sermon. The khatib holds the staff as a symbol of authority while reading the khutbah (sermon).

Exhibition is on at the Asian Civilisations Museum till 31 December 2002.
