Mosque Chairman

All mosques in Singapore are managed by a Mosque Management Board which sets the directions and policies of the mosque. The members of the board are volunteers elected for a two-year term according to the rules established by Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS).

Abdul Matin is a MUIS official and he holds the position of Chairman of Masjid Darul Ghufran and Masjid Alkaff Kampong Melayu. As chairman, he works with his staff to ensure everything at the mosque and its activities run smoothly.

"It is very fulfilling to be able to share my vision on the community at the mosque level. I get satisfaction from the fact that I can do something which has a major implication on the community...feel that mosques should complement each other instead of competing with one another. They should look after the needs of the surrounding community first before trying to attract others."
