Moroccan Women's Writers of Arabic Expression

Fouzia Rhissassi (Ibn Tofail University, Kénitra, Morocco)

Moroccan women writers, writing under the constraints of post-colonialism, are in very different ways members of a community of writers creating literatures that are coming of age .It is my purpose in this paper to examine Moroccan women writers of Arabic expression whose works reflect salient features of post-colonial texts and to explore thematic parallels found across different post-colonial literatures.

This paper is at best a prelude to more concrete debates that might be had about postcolonialisms and political correctnesses; but I hope that such debates might benefit from bearing in mind some of the observations of this paper.
